OUR SUPPORT

The project aims to increase sustainable freight transport and logistics in the Mekong Region mainly through energy efficiency and safety measures in at least 500 SMEs in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Vietnam (CLMV) and Thailand.

MAIN AREAS OF SUPPORT

WP1 : Fuel efficiency

  • Provide “Advanced Training on Eco and Defensive Driving” for local trainers in CLMVT Countries including Maintenance and Technology upgrades.
  • Provide “Training on Eco and Defensive Driving” for trucking and logistic company in CLMVT Countries including Maintenance and Technology upgrades.
  • Provide coaching at company to tackle specific problems and stimulate the measure implementation.
  • Monitoring and evaluate behavior change to ensure effectiveness of training.
  • Integrate Eco and Defensive Driving Training Curriculum to existing driving school.
  • Establish the information exchange platform to improve the empty truck running.
  • Piloting trailer swapping to improve the use of excessively heavy sea cargo containers.

WP2 : Safe Dangerous Goods Transport

  • Review current status of national policy/regulation of Dangerous Goods Transport, its implementation and gap analysis to meet ASEAN Protocol 9/GMS- ANNEX 1
  • Capacity development to national authority in CLMVT countries in improving national guidance, regulations and procedures towards “ASEAN Protocol 9”/GMS- ANNEX 1
  • Capacity development to private sector in CLMVT countries in improving business performance towards “ASEAN Protocol 9”/GMS- ANNEX 1
  • Organize seminar to exchange knowledge/experiences on regulation of Dangerous Goods Transport and “ASEAN Protocol 9”/GMS- ANNEX 1

WP3 : Access to Finance

  • Review the existing financial products in CLMVT countries.
  • Support SMEs to prepare the business/investment plan to access to finance to invest in more efficient, environmentally sound and safer technologies.
  • Organize matching between SMEs and Bank/financial institution.
  • Conduct the analysis and policy assessment of cross-border leasing rules creates another possible avenue for expanding access to finance.

WP4 : Policy, standard and labeling

  • Promote and support SMEs to access to standard and labeling such as Thailand’s service quality standard of truck operation (Q-mark), Green freight Asia labeling.
  • Encourage knowledge/experience sharing among CLMVT countries by organizing seminar/study trip and online platform.
  • Reflect the need of sector to governments by proposing policy recommendations to improve policy, Incentive, standard and labeling of this sector.
  • Promote the best practices of Eco and Defensive Driving to wider SMEs.
