Government official and representatives from the transport sector attended a workshop to learn about the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR).

The three-day workshop on the ADR for the National Working Group of Laos started from 19-21 December 2018 in Vientiane Under the Sustainable Freight Transport and Logistics in the Mekong Region project. The workshop was co-chaired by Assistant Minister of Public Works and Transport, Prof. Dr. Bounleum SISOULATH.

During these three days, participants from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC), Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), Ministry of Science and Technology (MST), Ministry of National Defence (MND)  and Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), and Lao International Freight Forwarders Association (LIFFA) learned an overview of ADR through case studies, excursions to companies, and presentations resulting from the excursions. The main activities of the National ADR working group included planning for regular meetings to edit and fine-tune the draft translated version of the ADR, submitting the final translated version of ADR to the government authority body for further official publishing, and giving recommendations on ADR-related amendment regulation.

There were 19 selected concerned participants and translators joining this workshop held at Crowne Plaza Hotel, in Vientiane Capital, Lao PDR.
